At its recent board meeting, the
United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation Board of Directors
elected its new officers and leadership including Massey Villarreal, Chair,
Vincent Rangel, Vice-Chair, Eric Carson, Finance Committee Chair, and Peter Granillo, Secretary. Each will begin a one-year term in their respective roles
at the culmination of the USHCC 25th Annual National Convention and Business
Expo to be held September 15-18, 2004, in Austin, Texas.
"This is an important transition for the USHCC Foundation and I look forward to
working with each new officer of the Foundation board. Together we will continue
the mission of the USHCC Foundation, which is to provide educational and
capacity development support to Latino youth and to the network of chamber
members across the country," said Frank Lopez, President of the USHCC
Foundation. "I also want to commend the dedicated service of the previous board
members, in particular, Liliam Lujan-Hickey who served as Chair of the USHCC
Foundation and in many ways was the heart and soul of the board."
Villarreal is CEO and president of Precision Task Group, Inc., (PTG), a
Hispanic-owned and managed computer-consulting firm, providing data processing
solutions to public and private sector firms. Villarreal has a long-standing
history with the Hispanic chamber community. Villarreal has served as the
immediate past-Chairman of the board of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
and Chairman of the USHCC Board of Directors in 1999. He currently serves a
three-year term on the USHCC Board of Directors. Villarreal also served as the
Chairman of the Board of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of
Commerce (TAMACC) of Austin, Texas. Villarreal was elected Chairman of the Board
for the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA). He was also
appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve as presiding officer (Chairman)
of the governing board of the Texas Department of Economic Development (TxEd),
with a term expiring at the pleasure of the Governor.
Vincent E. Rangel is the president and CEO of Rangel & Associates. Rangel is
Past President of the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, where he
is the Chairman Emeritus. Rangel has served as Director of Marketing for a
national railway related firm and Vice-President of a manufacturing firm with a
national clientele. He has been in insurance and financial services for 18 years
with affiliations to top brokers in the Chicago area. He has a Series 7
designation and clients in Mexico and throughout Chicago to include the excess
liability coverage for the City of Chicago and the Cook County. He is also a
member of State Attorney Dick Devine's Latino Advisory Board.
Eric Carson is president and CEO of Reflections Glass Company, a full service
glass and glazing company servicing the Hawaiian Islands. Carson is also the
founder and president of Big Island Glass, WrightBuy.Com and Diamon-Fusion
Hawaii and serves on the board of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. Carson
has been recognized by the city and county of Honolulu for outstanding service
to the Hispanic community and recently was appointed by the Governor to the
Contractors License Board.
Peter Granillo is president and CEO of Brown and White, Inc., which he founded
in 1981. Granillo has found success in construction through hard work, a
commitment to strong principles and involvement in the community. Providing good
role models and leadership for Hispanic youth are among Granillo's top
priorities.
The USHCC Foundation is committed to the purpose of giving Latino youth
alternatives for life preparation and life-long learning by developing and
implementing initiatives and educational campaigns to awaken and nurture the
